Privacy policy

This policy explains how Leadsource International Manager Limited (NZBN 9429047325371), trading as Business Loanz Online ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information when you use this website or enquire about business finance. We manage personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles, including principle 3A on information collected from other sources.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to understand your enquiry and help arrange business finance. That can include:

  • your name, phone number, email address and role in the business;
  • business details such as your NZBN, company number, business name, industry, trading history, region and turnover;
  • how much you want to borrow, what it is for and when you need it;
  • details of any property you may offer as security;
  • identification information, bank data (shared through open banking or uploaded statements), accounting reports, Inland Revenue summaries and details of existing debts;
  • credit information, once you decide to proceed; and
  • information about other people connected to the application, such as co-directors, trustees or guarantors.

Where it comes from

Most information comes directly from you through our online enquiry form, by phone or by email. We also record how you found our website (for example, the page you first landed on and the page you enquired from) so we can understand which information is useful. Once you choose to proceed, and with your agreement, information may also be obtained from other sources: credit reporters, identity verification services, open banking and bank-statement providers, accounting software connections, public registers such as the Companies Register, the NZBN register and land title records, and professionals you nominate, such as your accountant or lawyer. We will tell you about these sources before or when the information is collected, as principle 3A requires, unless an exception applies.

How we use it

  • to respond to your enquiry and talk with you about suitable finance options;
  • to assess and arrange business finance with the lender best suited to your situation — we do not send your details out to a long list of lenders;
  • to verify your identity and the information you give us;
  • to meet our legal obligations;
  • to run our business, keep records, handle complaints and improve our website and services; and
  • to tell you about other business finance options that may suit you — you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

To arrange your finance we may share information with the lender and funders involved in your application, related finance businesses that assess and settle business loans, credit reporters (only once you choose to proceed), verification providers, valuers and lawyers (for property-secured loans), professional advisers, our IT and service providers, and government agencies where the law requires it. Some service providers may store data outside New Zealand; where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected in a way comparable to the Privacy Act 2020.

Your consent

When you submit an enquiry you agree to us collecting, using and sharing your information for the purposes in this policy, and to us contacting you by phone, text and email about your enquiry. Enquiring does not involve a credit check; we will ask before any credit check happens. Data-sharing connections, such as open banking or accounting software links, are approved by you and can be withdrawn.

If you give us information about someone else, such as a co-director or guarantor, you confirm you are authorised to do so and that you have told them about this policy.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, use, change or disclosure. We never ask for your internet banking, myIR or accounting passwords. When we no longer need information for a lawful purpose, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner and affected people as the Act requires.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you. To make a request or a privacy complaint, contact us through our contact page marked "Privacy request" or write to us at 155 Fanshawe Street, Auckland 1010, and we will respond within the timeframes the Act sets. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
